LifeWay Expands CrossBooks Self-Publishing Service
Christian resource company helping writers find larger audience at lower cost
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 12, 2010) — LifeWay, one of the world’s largest providers of Christian products and services, has expanded its CrossBooks self-publishing division to include more benefits and package options for a fast-growing roster of talented authors.
Launched in April 2009, CrossBooks has become more than “just another self-publishing company” thanks to its unique connection with LifeWay, which owns 154 retail stores nationwide, two conference centers, a highly respected church resources operation, and is the parent company of Christian publisher B&H Publishing Group. In addition to those potential opportunities, CrossBooks authors retain copyright ownership and receive theological reviews of their content as well as cover design services, ISBN assignment/channel distribution, volume discounts, and a free quantity of finished books.
Based on author feedback, CrossBooks has increased its number of package options from three to twelve, giving authors additional savings opportunities on the most desired services. Packages start at just $1,099.00 and can grow to include added services like Web site development, print advertising, specialized color printing, electronic publishing, and promotional video production.
“CrossBooks is helping many Christian writers begin to find the right path for their message,” said Thom S. Rainer, LifeWay president and CEO. “The starting costs are affordable, and the possibilities are great—whether it’s an established public speaker who wants to bring content directly to a select audience, or a budding novelist or ministry leader building an independent readership before considering larger opportunities.”
“We definitely keep our eyes on CrossBooks and look for rising authors who might be interested in moving to B&H,” said Brad Waggoner, president of B&H Publishing Group, which recently published the New York Times #1 best seller, The Love Dare.
“We started CrossBooks to help these writers build their ministry,” said Phill Burgess, director of CrossBooks. “We’re doing that through these expanded options, a strong affiliation with LifeWay, and at our Web site where authors can tap into a growing source of book marketing information.”
