Adoption Dream Overcomes Years of Obstacles
Feb. 3, 2012 - Delana Stewart dreamed of adopting a young girl. The adoption process demanded patience and hard work. Stewart describes her family's adoption journey in Nine Year Pregnancy.
Stewart waited for doors to open while doing humanitarian work around the world. She says waiting is the most difficult part of adoption. "One of the things I really struggled with in the nine years was asking for an answer to prayer and knowing when to give up."
Another difficulty was keeping her relationship with God a priority. She says at times she valued the gift, a child, more than its giver, God. She hopes sharing her experiences adopting an older child will help those considering adoption.
